A B C D's of Pool Safety

A Water Watcher is a responsible adult who agrees to watch the kids in the water without distractions. After a certain amount of time (such as 15-minutes), the Water Watcher assignment is passed on to another adult, who is responsible for the active supervision.

*

Barriers act as ‘layers of protection’ that prevent water-related tragedies from occurring. The best pool barrier is a 4-sided fence with a self-closing and self-latching gate that opens outward. The barriers must separate the pool from the home.

*

ISR’s unique results are achieved through fully customized, safe and effective, one-on-one lessons with only your child and the Instructor in the water. What your child will learn, and the way he or she will learn it, is what makes ISR so different from traditional swimming lessons. Always putting safety first, ISR emphasizes competence, which leads to confidence, and provides the foundation for a lifetime of enjoyment in and around the water.

*

If the home opens directly to the pool, door alarms and high locks should be installed. All public pools and spas must have drain grates or covers that meet safety standards to avoid accidents. Powerful suction from a pool or spa drain can even trap an adult.
